Causes of energy crisis

Energy crisis is any significant bottleneck in the supply of energy resource to an economy. Causes of Energy Crisis: (i).Over population: Demand of energy household or every industry or any country is increases due to over population. Higher population leads to higher shortage of energy resources. (ii).Over consumption: Few developed countries of the world uses power resources in every sphere over consuming the resources like fuel, oil, running water, electricity etc. Because of over consuming of resource by certain section of society, the other sections of societies are not able to get the amount of resource that is required by them. India Consumption 700kw Global Consumption 1000kw USA 7000kw (iii)Aging infrastructure: Modern technology leads to less energy consumption. Old technology leads to high energy consumption. The aging infrastructure means more amount of energy for performing the same amount of work in compare to modern technology. Because of ageing in...

Future scenario of Renewable Energy Resource in India

Future scenario of Renewable Energy Resource in India: The Indian Government has increased the target of renewable energy capacity to 175 GW by the year 2022, which includes 100 GW ( gigawatts) from solar, 60 GW from wind, 10 GW from bio-power & 5 GW from small hydro-power. Source 2022 Target (GW) Solar 100 Wind 60 Bio-Power 10 Small Hydro-Power 5 Future Scenario of Solar Energy:       Solar power in India is a fast developing industry.       The country’s solar installed capacity reached 29.55 GW as of 30 June 2019.       India has become globally the lowest cost producer of solar power.       The Indian Government has increased the target of renewable energy capacity to 175 GW by the year 2022, which includes 100 GW from solar. Advantage: Advantage of using solar energy is its eco-friendly nature. It does not release CO 2  and o...

Energy security in India in present time

Introduction: India's  share of energy consumption stands at 3.5% of the world's global energy consumption and is likely to be 10% by 2031.  The total energy generation was 1048 Billion Units and for the 12th plan period (FY 13-17), the Government of India has targeted capacity addition of 88,537 MW. Aims: Uninterrupted availability of energy sources  at an affordable price. Long-term energy security  deals with timely investments to supply energy in line with   economic developments and environmental needs. Short-term energy security  focuses on the ability of the energy system to respond   promptly to sudden changes in the supply-demand balance. Challenges for India’s Energy Security:      Policy Challenges:        i.           Failure to attract international investment  in domestic hydrocar...
