Selection of study area for fieldwork

Selection of study area for fieldwork

Selection of study area for fieldwork depends upon-
                                                                                                                  i.         Purpose of the study,
                                                                                                                 ii.         Area of the study,
                                                                                                               iii.         Time available,
                                                                                                               iv.         Demand of curriculum,
                                                                                                                 v.         Accessibility,
i.Selection of Study Area Based on Purpose: The purpose of fieldwork may be social survey, physiography survey, economic survey etc. Social survey may include different aspect like education, health etc. In such case a village, a ward of municipality or entire municipality may be selected at study area.
For the purpose of physiographic survey, physiographically divers landscape is selected for fieldwork. As the diversity may give a idea of complex nature of interplay between different geographical aspect.
ii.Area of the Study: Based on the number of work force & time available area of fieldwork is selected. Longer time available may capable us to selected longer area for fieldwork. For time spend & small work force restrict us to small study area.
iii.Time Available: Time to complete the survey is an important aspect of fieldwork. Longer time facilitated us to select study area in distance place. Shorter time spend restrict us to select the study area nearby.
iv.Demand of Curriculum: Selection of study area is highly depended on the demand of curriculum. Curriculum may specify what types of fieldwork is to be done. For example, if curriculum specify to conduct a field survey on tribal, than the study area need to be selected in some where near the forest sting.
v.Accessibility: Study area must be accessible by transport facilities or walking distance from the last point of transport facility must be manageable.
Conclusion:
Based upon all those criteria selection of study area should such that it satisfy predefine objectives & demands of the curriculum.

Concentric zone theory

Theories of City Structure-Concentric Zone Theory Introduction: The Concentric or Zonal Theory of urban landuse was first proposed in 1923 by E.W. Burgess. He was a sociologist. The idea behind the concentric model is that the development of a city takes place outwards from its central area in a series of concentric circles to form zones.  Assumption:        i.           Cultural & social heterogeneity of the population.       ii.           Commercial-industrial base to the economy of the city.     iii.           Private ownership of property & economic competition for space.     iv.           Expanding area & population of the city.       v.    ...

Future scenario of Renewable Energy Resource in India

Future scenario of Renewable Energy Resource in India: The Indian Government has increased the target of renewable energy capacity to 175 GW by the year 2022, which includes 100 GW ( gigawatts) from solar, 60 GW from wind, 10 GW from bio-power & 5 GW from small hydro-power. Source 2022 Target (GW) Solar 100 Wind 60 Bio-Power 10 Small Hydro-Power 5 Future Scenario of Solar Energy:       Solar power in India is a fast developing industry.       The country’s solar installed capacity reached 29.55 GW as of 30 June 2019.       India has become globally the lowest cost producer of solar power.       The Indian Government has increased the target of renewable energy capacity to 175 GW by the year 2022, which includes 100 GW from solar. Advantage: Advantage of using solar energy is its eco-friendly nature. It does not release CO 2  and o...

Concept of determinism and possibilism

Determinism vs. Possibilism Introduction: No exact answer to this question has yet been found – to what extent do the natural elements of the world affect humans. In modern times, a continuous study of human relations with nature has begun. At present, the view of geographers has changed. The geographers has now human-centered. As a result, the relationship of nature with human beings & human with nature beings, is being studied in a systematic way. The opinion of geographers like Carl Ritter (1779-1859), Alexander Von Humboldt (1761-1859), Hackel, Bukle, Edmond Demolines, F. Ratzel, W.M. Davis, Huntington etc. geographers particularly important in this regard. And of these concepts, two important concepts are:                                             ...
